The school wanted to create a new student breakout space that combined both functional and aesthetically pleasing elements in order to enhance student learning and engagement.
With the brief in mind, the Civic Australia team set to work to come up with the initial concept, drawing inspiration from the school’s identity and core values as well as the themes for the Senior Student Learning Centre previously completed by the team; global, connection and growth.
The breakout area was designed to represent the future with the team introducing the latest in CNC routing technology to the joinery design and custom printed lettering on the carpet floor to achieve a modern look.
Study nooks line the east wall, allowing students to have private conversations in an open space whilst collaboration and socialisation is encouraged with the ‘collaboration wall’ placed at the centre, providing students with the opportunity to share their ideas and thoughts on the writable glass board and pinboard cabinet doors.
